The pandemic made many of us question how we were living our lives. It certainly made me do that.
I recently read a great post by Dan Mian, Founder of Gradvance, which talked about the things that you won’t regret doing. My own version of Dan’s list is below. Thinking about things this way round will help you revitalise your life and achieve that sense of wellbeing that we are all looking for!
- make time for your family.
- make time for yourself. Think about what makes you happy. This is not a selfish enterprise. A happier you will make those around you happier too.
- give yourself a break.
- make yourself do things that challenge you.
- keep on looking to expand your knowledge and interests.
- give to others. This could be in a charitable context, but mentoring, sharing information, helping out in the community – all these things are enormously rewarding as well as helpful to others.
- if you are not enjoying what you are doing, look at how you can change things. This does not need to be as radical as changing job but it might be.
- exercise makes you feel better and helps you recentre. It also helps you breathe which many of us do badly when we are stressed. You don’t have to do marathons. A short walk outside is sufficient.
- say no to things that you don’t want to do.
- concentrate on the positives. Even when they seem hard to find, they will be there.
Good luck!
